Seattle Orcas Fold for 60 as Texas Super Kings Roar to Third Straight Win

Los Angeles, June 17, 2025 – In a dominant display of bowling, Texas Super Kings (TSK) secured their third consecutive win in MLC 2025, annihilating Seattle Orcas by 93 runs. After posting a challenging total of 153/6, TSK restricted the Orcas to just 60 runs in 13.5 overs, propelled by a devastating bowling attack spearheaded by Zia-ul-Haq and Nandre Burger.

Orcas Collapse in the Powerplay

The Orcas’ chase was never on track. Thanks to a clinical start by Zia-ul-Haq and Nandre Burger, Seattle were reduced to a disastrous 21/5 by the end of the fifth over. Both bowlers generated enough movement off the pitch to leave the Orcas’ top order in disarray, frequently beating the bat and finding edges.

Even the introduction of spin couldn’t stem the flow of wickets, as Noor Ahmad joined in, trapping Sujit Nayak and Harmeet Singh LBW. By the end of the 7th over, the Orcas had collapsed to 27/7.

A Brief Fightback, but the Damage Was Done

Aaron Jones and Jasdeep Singh fought valiantly with an 18-run stand, the only significant partnership of the Orcas’ innings. Jones even managed a six off Noor Ahmad, but his promising knock was cut short when he top-edged a pull shot to short third. Noor later trapped Obed McCoy LBW, and while Singh and Waqar Salamkheil tried to hold the fort, they could only add seven more runs before Singh fell to Nandre Burger.

Super Kings Struggle with the Bat, but Stoinis Provides Momentum

Earlier, TSK also faced challenges with the bat on a slow surface that offered inconsistent bounce. Faf du Plessis and Devon Conway both departed early in the powerplay, leaving the Super Kings at 28/2. However, Saiteja Mukkamalla and Daryl Mitchell steadied the innings, grinding out a valuable 48-run partnership.

While Mitchell struggled to find the boundary, Mukkamalla made up for it with a couple of sixes off Sikandar Raza and Salamkheil. The real turning point came when Marcus Stoinis entered the fray, blasting four sixes in a blistering 12-ball cameo, injecting much-needed momentum into the Super Kings’ innings.

In the final over, Milind Kumar and Shubham Ranjane added the finishing touches, striking two sixes and a boundary to push TSK to 153/6.
